MRS. SMITH & CARLYLE: TO MARS AND BACK AGAIN!

An Original Space Rock Musical by ANDREW RASMUSSEN & DAVID HANBURY

Based on a character created by DAVID HANBURY

Originally developed at THE GROUND FLOOR, BERKELEY REP

Mrs. Smith is a lover of all cats and some people. Her favorite person in the whole world isn’t even a person at all -- he’s a cat named Carlyle. It’s just another (totally weird) day when things take a turn for the worst. On the eve of a spectacular celebration, Carlyle turns his kitty litter box into a spaceship and blasts off to Mars, leaving little more than a post-it note. Mrs. Smith, suffering a “Cat-Based Breakdown,” terrorizes the town, in search of her feline friend. Teaming up with pesky whiz-kid neighbor Mimi Santiago and her trusty household staff, Mrs. Smith decides to build her own ship and go after her feline friend and blasts off to the unknown.

Once in outer space, Mrs. Smith and Carlyle are drawn into an epic war between good and evil, controlled by “The King of the Dogstar” - an electric keyboard playing genius who has taken sonic control of dogs and cats across the galaxy. In a spectacular climax that combines the excitement of a videogame with the thrill of a live rock concert, Mrs. Smith and her friends must use the power of music to defeat the evil Dogstar and save the universe.
